NEWS RELEASE
Make that a Combo! CuisineNet and DineSite.com Merge
Schaumburg, Il - December 13, 2000 - CuisineNet and
DineSite.com, both top ranking Internet restaurant guides, have
merged and consolidated operations at DineSite offices near
Chicago, Illinois.
The deal is formalized just days after competing guide,
RestaurantRow.com, announced its failure to complete merger
plans with Menus.com. CuisineNet and DineSite believe their
dining guides, combined, place them on a level that comfortably
rivals even Zagat.com.
"It's about providing the highest caliber content experience ..."
stated Jim Hasan, of DineCore, Inc. which owns DineSite.com.
"Consumers value our [DineSite's] coverage of independent
restaurants even in the smallest towns, but CuisineNet brings us
the professional reviews visitors love - we couldn't ask for a more
complimentary opportunity."
Recently revamped, DineSite (http://www.dinesite.com/) features
over 100,000 restaurants and covers, in detail, more than 12,000
U.S. cities (international guides to be released next year).
CuisineNet (http://www.cuisinenet.com/) brings professional
critiques for nearly 10,000 restaurants in top markets, as well as
hundreds of food articles and recipes.
Together the combined properties boast the largest on-line
restaurant-enthusiast community with over 95,000 consumer-
contributed reviews -- an important distinction given research by the
National Restaurant Association indicating that, when choosing a
restaurant, it is word-of-mouth consumers rely upon and trust most.
"Beyond data, we've always considered CuisineNet a community
... " says CuisineNet creator and newly appointed DineCore CTO,
Kian-Lam Kho, " ... we are pleased that DineSite shares this
aspect of our vision ... in this single step, we go well beyond the
simple data listed by competitors to delivering true guidance for
people seeking a restaurant - not just from our food critics, but from
their peers."
CuisineNet and DineSite are based in Schaumburg, Illinois and
owned by DineCore, Inc. The combined properties have a
syndication base of over a hundred top sites including Yahoo!,
Disney's Go.com, InfoSpace, Inc., Women.com,
WomensForum.com, CNN's Foodvision.com and eLocal.com. For
